This test of our Original Howley material measures warmth per unit weight — how much insulation a material provides for every ounce of fabric. Higher values mean more warmth without added bulk.

Polartec® Classic delivers roughly twice the warmth-to-weight efficiency of merino wool and four times that of cotton! — meaning significantly more insulation per ounce, not heavier headwear.   This results in a noticeably lighter, more comfortable all-day wearing experience, while providing exceptional warmth.
