I was twenty in the late 80s and we were traveling around the country in my old 66 Dodge van. The Dead were always touring and we were chasing them in a shagged out beige mystery mobile!  Driving home one time I bought this winter hat from some Vermonters at a country store.  At that time Polartec fabric was still like astronaut stuff! Time magazine eventually named it "One of the most important inventions of the 20th century"!

Well 35 years later I'm still in love with this hat, but they don’t make them in Vermont anymore (see our blog for our thoughts on the demise of American manufacturing).  We thought we better bring back a little bit of the love this hat gives.

Howley's are the most comfortable, versatile, high performance winter hat you will ever own. When everyone else makes one size for all heads, our hats come in 5 sizes.

Made from the same often imitated, never matched Polartec fabric from US factories in New Hampshire and Tennessee, we hand cut and sew these hats in New Jersey because Made in USA means everything to us.
